THE WINNING COLORS

The 30th Kulay sa Tubig watercolour competition was concluded last December with the awarding of winners and exhibition of the entries.
Now on its 30th year, the country’s longest running watercolour competition, Kulay sa Tubig, announced its winners last December 2, 2014 during the opening reception of its watercolour exhibition at the SM Art Center.
The entries submitted by 66 artists were evaluated by a panel of judges, which included Patrick Flores, curator of the UP Vargas Museum and the curator of the Philippine Pavilion in the 2015 Venice Biannale; Tina Colayco, president of the Metropolitan Museum of Manila; Mita Rufino, former president of the Cultural Center of the Philippines and current president of the Filipino Heritage Festival Foundation Inc,; independent curator and professor Laya Boquiren; and artist critic Cid Reyes.
This year’s awarding ceremony recognized eleven winners consisting of five winners, five runner-ups of equal standing included Victor Ng, Danny Doce, Antonio Alcoseba, Edu Perreras and Eduardo Perreras. The five winners, also of equal standing, included Margarita Lim, Lester Rodriguez, ALFREDO MORALES JR., Erwin Mallari, and Ernesto Patricio. The Hall of Fame was awarded to Rodelio “Toti” Cerda, a third-time winner.
The announcement of winners was followed by the formal opening of the Kuay sa Tubig watercolour exhibition. Adding to the night’s festivities were cocktails provided by Bombay Sapphire.
The 30th Kulay sa Tubig competition was presented by Art+ Magazine, in partnership with Gallery Genesis, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Bombay Sapphire, and the Art Association of the Philippines.
