Jun MontifarJun Montifar is no stranger to Visual Arts. In fact for decades he has not only been immersed in almost every aspect of it, but he has also excelled in it. Currently the president of the renowned Pasig Art Club starting January 2010, he has spent decades perfecting every medium of craft that he has taken up.
Shortly after entering University of Santo Tomas as a fine arts student with major in advertising, he spent 10 years in the advertising world, 20 years as an advertising photographer. he also opened up “Studio Montifar”, which specializes in commercials as well as serving as a supplier for ad agencies. Soon after joining Pasig Art Club in its revival he decided to become a full time painter. The call of the muse runs strongly in Jun Montifar’s blood. Hailing from a family of artists, his father was one of the original Pasig art club members; his brother was also a member. However, he still forges a path that is distinctly his own. His heavy background in advertising also had a part in shaping his philosophy in art. Not only in the concepts which he applies to his works, but also in technique itself. An example is his background in photography which helps in making him particular in noticing the qualities of light in an image. However, despite having tried other mediums and modes it is in painting where he finds true fulfillment in having product that is really his own, unlike his advertising work which favors the client first and foremost. A strong believer of art in tangent with meaning, he doesn’t merely perfect aesthetics for aesthetics sake alone. Everything is done more beautifully because it is not just shallow eye candy, but a thought provoking experience as well. His artwork leaves the viewer not only with a searing image, but also intellectual, spiritual and emotional nourishment. The concept of imagination being used so that it is not just of skill, but pure raw interpretation of life is evident in his approach towards art. With the advent of technology in relation to arts; he enhanced the new while seeing the quality of the old. Currently experimenting with wood carving and shaping, he is enhancing its own beauty by letting its natural shape push through. Having his works a true extension of makes it a fitting product of expression. Through his mediums of oil, watercolor and pen and ink, every work is a riveting insight to his soul. GROUP EXHIBITIONS:
