Pytz SantosA man who has seen all and done all, much still waits this ever-youthful spirit whose passion has led him to most mediums in the visual arts throughout his diverse artistic career. A graduate of Fine Arts in University of the Philippines, major in Advertising, Pytz made a mark in the commercial advertising world in his work in McCann-Ericson, one of the biggest international advertising companies to date. Working on projects that handle brands such as Coca-Cola, Everready and San Miguel, he excelled in holding his position of executive Art Director. In charge of supervising art departments, he was to oversee art directors and copy writers who are tasked with executing his conceptualizations to the best of their ability. More than that he also explored other modes
After many years carving a name for himself in the commercial industry, Pytz alongside other batchmates from University of the Philippines started “grUPo” and together they nursed the other aspect of their creativity which is that on the canvas through oil and all other mediums of painting. Since his foray into the visual arts community he has continued to make a name for himself that is equally as imposing as that known in his commercial success. Never scared to mix it up, he has always experimented with all mediums and subjects, refusing to be confined to the parameters of routine. Using diversity as a fuel to further his creativity, his willingness to explore gives every painting a freshness that is complimented by the heartfelt sincerity which he made it with. This can be seen in the presence of such feeling and emotion in each work. Whether it be a painting, sketch or drawing all contain the lively enthusiasm he approaches his art with. His subjects are also diverse, though he draws much inspiration from his children. A self confessed doting dad, he would accompany his daughter, to her ballet classes and found inspiration in the elegance and grace of the delicate ballerina movements. With his daughter now a ballet teacher and dancer as well, the inspiration spurned on many works that showcase his unique ability of catching the subtle differences in movement specific to such a time-honored genre of dance. His artistic passions also spilled over to his son, Jose John Santos, who is also building a name for himself in the visual arts community. Indeed, he thrives on the challenge of learning. As can be seen in his infinite enthusiasm, there will be many more great works to be expected from this master of new horizons. |
