Tess Dimanlig - TordaTess Torda’s love affair with art is a humble voice that refuses to be silenced. Resilient it had its beginnings in being the niece of Philatelic designer Nemesio Dimanlig. Surrounded by mastery in the area of visual arts, awakened a thirst and longing for the canvas that will continue on for many years. It drove her to join the talent competition when she was just grade four, here the first embers of her passion for creation started.
She went on to study Fine Arts in UST major in interior design, soon after though she migrated to New York. She still continued to study by taking classes on drawing and graphic art. She then moved to California, and while she was working went on to start a family. With the many responsibilities that accompanied her new life, she drifted from arts, but the call of the muse proved to be too resilient and in 2008 she rediscovered her passion for the arts through Pasig Art Club. Soon after, she tagged along in sketching sessions and other activities that slowly brought out her ever resilient inclination for the arts. A ready student of beauty, she experimented with all mediums, studying every technique. Starting with charcoal she also went on to try her hand at oil, acrylic and watercolor, which is currently her favorite. Having variety of subjects containing scenes and still life, she also does portrait finding the opportunity to capture character as really something to aspire for. This realism is what she tries to do to the best of her ability. Believing that a good artist should be able to handle all mediums, she is on the quest to continuously learn from the creative processes available. Finding the diversity of mediums an infinite horizon of possibilities a challenge to learn and improve herself, she is also in search of her identity through her experiences as an artist. Being inspired from many artists such as Romulo Galicano, she works on her constantly evolving persona as an artist by both learning and doing. She favors water color and soft pastels for her portraits and still life, her palette is colorful, vibrant and lovely, depending on the mood and emotion of the subject. Having her first group exhibit in 2008, she is now aggressively in the path of gaining knowledge in all things available to her and also imparting her knowledge by facilitating in workshops for young children, inspiring them as she herself was also inspired. Learning from everything around her she finds art a permanent fixture in not only her life, but everyone else’s as well. Seeing the beauty and artistry in everything from nature gives her unique love and fervent drive as she believes in the noble task of using it all to the best of her abilities believing that capturing It is the one of the purest accomplishments in life. Her thirst for knowledge and never ending quest to perfect her craft give her the drive to see her art not as something to do but something to be. |
