Pasig Art Club is 50 years old this year. After being formally organized in 1957, it set into motion its objectives of bringing art into public’s awareness through annual art exhibits and creating an interactive milieu through fellowship among its professional visual artist members from the community of Pasig.
Notwithstanding the numerous crises brought about by national and local events, the club has managed to rise through the years from the depths of oblivion every time which proves that noble purpose and deep-passion for arts can transcend time people and events.
Four generations of artists are unselfishly putting their best through numerous activities in the year-long celebration which started in March with “An Art-Fair to Remember”, and “Golden Legacy” art exhibit and book launch in July, Lecture Series in August, launching of the Isko-Arts scholarship projects in September and which will run through December.
The club members are looking forward to the next few early months of 2008 working collaboratively in a series of commissioned art works for an academic institution. The public unveiling of these masterpieces can then be a fitting culmination to the yearlong golden legacy celebrations.
With a booming economy, an appreciative public, culturally responsive leadership in government and a zestful membership, Pasig Art Club is more than confident in setting in sights and hearts to the next 50 years and beyond.
