DRAPED IN RED
by Elwinkle
Two professional models were draped in red cloth during La Giratoria Art Gallery's first portrait and figurative sketching session. 34 visual artists and art enthusiasts sketched these figures (though not nude) with remarkable zeal.
This event was held at and organized by La Giratoria Art Gallery, also known as Pasig MOLMA (Museum Of Local and Modern Art) on the last Saturday of January 2017, 2pm-5pm. With a minimal fee of P300 per head, free refreshments (merienda) were served to the participants. Renowned painters Gus Albor, Danilo Arriola and Pancho Piano were able to join the event. Classical guitarist Bowie Gonzales simultaneously played his instrument as the subjects pose, and only took breaks as little as the lady subjects did. In his umbra was Gus Albor who occasionally jammed in with his flute. Rem Vocalan of Balaw-balaw restaurant and art gallery (in Angono, serves exotic food) also participated in and posted about Draped In Red. Manolo Lozada, owner of Panaderia Dimas-alang (a bakeshop established in 1919) took his usual break from baking for sketching.
La Giratoria Art Gallery is the freshest art sanctuary right at the heart of Pasig City's cultural and administrative center. La Giratoria or “The revolving” Art Gallery as it translates in English, is an artistic space in an iconic place. Conceptualized to be an artist hub, it is with a hanging garden on its floor, where visual and performing artists and enthusiasts can mingle in light-mood events. The gallery formally opened on a Monday of December last year (12-12-2016), immediately after the rebirth launching of Pasig Revolving Tower (abandoned and unused for years) on 11-28-2016, also a Monday.
La Giratoria Art Gallery is open 7 days a week, from 10am to 7pm. We happily welcome you there!
