Members of the Pasig Art Club trooped to UP Diliman campus last July 20 to hold an art workshop at the UP College of Architecture. The workshop together with the alumni reunion held the night before served as the culmination activity of the week-long Architecture/Landscape Architecture lectures and expositions.
Aptly titled "From 3D to 2D: A Sketching Workshop", the outdoor workshop was attended by some 30 students not only from the UPCA but also from other college units of UP Diliman. They were grouped according to medium of preference from charcoal and graphite to pen and ink and watercolour. The PAC members mentored the attendees on medium handling and sketching techniques in outdoor composition, scale and aesthetics.
UPCLAS (UP Circle of Landscape Architecture Students) Chairperson Megan Francisco and Academic Committee Head Celine Tiu at the closing ceremony thanked PAC for being true to form in their objective of sharing artistic know-how and awarded out Certificates of Appreciation to PAC President Lhen Perez-Cruzat, mentors Alfred Morales, Gelo Domingo, Nasser Zulueta, assistant mentors PP Jun Montifar, Tess Torda, Jo Roxas, Melba Tiongco and PP Ace Dimanlig, and Nito Tiongco for the photo documentation. Best student works for each category were also given recognition. UPCLAS offered to invite PAC again for their sketching activity next year'
After the workshop, the PAC members made an impromptu visit to PAC Hon. Member Dr. Ramon Santos at his residence at Juan Luna Street inside the UP Campus. Dr. Santos who just arrived from Bangkok where he works as visiting professor at the Chulalongkorn U 3 weeks a month, gladly welcomed the club and generously critiqued the studies for the "Ethnokolor" art exhibit in August.
